The mission of George Hall Elementary Media Center is to provide a nurturing environment that empowers the school community to become critical thinkers and life-long learners through the effective use of information in various formats.
George Hall Elementary Media Center’s vision is to offer each student the opportunity to become evaluators of information, develop an appreciation of literature and create an infinite love of reading. As a result, our students will become self-reliant, responsible and successful citizens of the community.
Students in grades K-5 may check out books at 8:30-2:30. Flexible scheduling is in place for grades K-5. Students in k-2 will visit the library weekly from 8:40-9:00 or 9:10-9:30 for story time and to check out a library book.
The Alabama Virtual Library provides all students, teachers, and citizens of the State of Alabama with online access to essential library and information resources. It is primarily a group of online databases that have magazine, journal, and newspaper articles for research. Through the AVL, an equitable core of information sources are available to every student and citizen in Alabama, raising the level of excellence in schools and communities across the state.

National Children Book Week
Reading is a right! Free to Read, this year’s theme for the 84th observance of The Children’s Book Council’s Children’s Book Week, encourages children, and the adults who care for them, to exercise your right by spending some time with a book each day. Children’s Book Week 2003 is November 17-23
Read Across America Day
NEA's Read Across America has become the nation's largest reading event. The year-round program culminates each year on or near Dr. Seuss's birthday (March 2)
This site offers homework help for students in grades 3 through 12. There are live tutors available. Open from 3:00 until 10:00 Sunday through Thursday.
Information about Accelerated Reader are available for students and parents.
